Possible fetal defect at pregnancy scan
Re: Possible fetal defect at pregnancy scan
Sheldon Cooper thank you so much, that's good to know what it will be like. My husband will be with me, I couldn't do it without him. Thankfully we have close family in Dublin so that will be some comfort too staying with them.
I'm really glad that you were given the all clear. That must have been a huge relief. I hope that is our experience too but if not then hopefully it is something relatively minor that can be fixed. I will be able to cope with that I think as naturally the worst of thoughts have crossed my mind so while any issue will be tough I will be thankful if it isn't very serious news. I think one valve looking smaller than the other isn't an easy thing to get wrong though so I am bracing myself for the sonographer being right. Though my own Consultant was 50/50 when he had a second look so it's hard to know.
Hopefully we will get seen this Thursday and won't have to wait until the following week.
I hope your baby is doing great and all is still well.

Something I never thought to ask, I am private with my consultant here. Will I have to pay in the Coombe for this scan? No one mentioned anything about that but I read something about private patients being charged. Not that it's a major concern but I would like to know too. Thanks.

Re: Possible fetal defect at pregnancy scan
I know things might be a bit raw and stuff if you've got bad news today but there is an excellent program on at 10.15pm on RTE 1 about Cardiology at Crumlin hospital. I will warn you though there are scene's of surgery and you will see a tiny baby with their chest open...
Re: Possible fetal defect at pregnancy scan
Just want to update you all. Today was the hardest day of my life but Thank God we got wonderful news. Everything looks okay. Dr Franklin and Dr Lynch were very thorough. Dr Franklin sees where the sonographer is coming from and said he is amazing to pick up what he did but that it's very subtle and she isn't at all concerned. Everything was checked and checked again. She said it's very rare that she gets to give good news like that so we feel so unbelievably blessed and fortunate. I really didn't expect that today, I thought even if it was minor that there would be something. The relief is overwhelming. I will never forget this day.
I just want to thank you all for your kind words and I wish each of your children all the best. I hope they will all continue to do great. I have so much empathy and respect for you all and what you have and are going through.
DH and I are going to do something for Crumlin, we feel so fortunate and lucky and it's the least we can do. Thank you all again.
A very relieved and grateful Mammy to be xx
