Echoing Nodrog's sentiments. Christmas was a real flash point for my exH. I spent Christmas walking on eggshells for many years.

Thanks Nodrog & Wuzziwig, I really appreciate the check in. Things are ok, thanks. He has toned it down a fair bit since that original WhatsApp in October - I think it hit home that I used the word alcoholic. He hasn’t stopped by any means and has no intention either I’m sure, but it’s moderated to a more acceptable level. I’m going to challenge him to do dry January because he’s bothered about his weight (although still in denial that it’s the beer that’s the main cause) and he just might be vain enough to go for it

The fact that he has cut down on his drinking is super, long may that continue.
