How do you get help for a child who you think is suffering for depression?
I think my son is suffering from depression. He has a lot of anger issues. He is struggling in school where previously school work was a breeze for him. I find he is struggling to focus in his sports which he adores. He is having outbursts, physically hurting me and himself. His anger is largely aimed at me and I am taking the brunt of his moods & temper.
I don't believe in much but I believe in my instinct and my instinct is screaming I need to get him some help. Is GP first stop?

I think GP would be your first stop to get a referral to the most suitable service for your DS.
How old is he?

GP and a referral to CAMHs or a private psychiatrist.
There are some good websites for kids/teens like jigsaw that he could look at while you are waiting for a referral.

You poor thing , that's hard for both of you but great that you picked up on it
I would think GP first as well
https://www.jigsaw.ie/ offer great supports but I think they help kids age 12 upwards
if your son is very young play therapy could help but start with the GP
mind yourself

Your GP is probably the best place to start. They will know of suitable services in your area.

I have a friend who went to Pieta house with her daughter but first port of call was her GP.
