Resource hours in primary

#1 Post by Advise »

Ds was diagnosed with Aspergers a few years ago.
School have been quite good but this year since the change in allocating resource hours
there seems to be very little been done with him.
I know they say they work with him now in the class but I dont hear too much
about what they are actually doing.
His main struggle is with social cues and situations.

So if your child get resource hours what exactly do they do with them?
Last year he was brought out for touch typing and ball catching and games with other kids.
This year I cant see what they have done.

Thanks

The trouble with withdrawing a child who is have difficulty with social interaction is that there's no way to teach it in isolation. I imagine the resource teacher is providing in class support so she can model good interaction with your son and his peers.
If you're not happy ask for a copy of his IEP and arrange a meeting for early in new school year.
