If u need the money (ie not on credit card ) then text saying that if anyway she could pay some now
Otherwise if On CC I don't see any issue? It's costing u nothing as you have x days to pay it off before any interest ?

Am I missing something?

i presume by the OP saying she is out of pocket till the end of the month means she booked on debit card rather than a credit card.

I wouldn't be texting looking to be paid unless I really needed the money.

She hasn't said to you that's she's struggling or doesn't have the money though just that she'll settle at end of month. You could reply and say you've used your debit card and spending €400 has left you tight and is there any chance she can pay it sooner or even some of it. There's no harm in asking if you really need the money.

Rubbing salt into the would are images of them out at lunch, in coffee bars and DD telling me that her BF is going to a disco next week. I've told DD she cannot go because of the expense. Here I am out €200 for the next 20 days (at least)
End of the month is next week though so not 20 days

If she doesn't pay by end of month. Text and say you need it as have to pay credit card as you don't want to incur interest.

I find it strange that some people seem to think it's ok for the other mother to have assumed payment wouldn't be needed to be made as soon as tickets were purchased and the op is kinda in the wrong for not making it clear she would want the money asap.

The other mother should've said before tickets were purchased that she wouldn't have the funds until the end of the month. She shouldn't have assumed the op had a spare €400 to buy tickets when she herself doesn't even have the €200 for one. She's been cheeky
In light of what you've said about them able to socialise and their dd heading to a disco but yours can't because you've done them a favour I would text back and let the mother know you don't have that spare money either and let her come up with something.

She shouldn't have asked you to buy the ticket when she doesn't have the money, end of. Would anyone else on here really presume if another mother offered to buy something payment would not be needed until it suited you?

My reading is the other parent didn’t ask but it was offered?

I personally wouldn’t offer to pay for something at that or any price unless I could wait a few days for the money. If I needed the money straight up I’d have said so.

Agree.
Op should have been clear upfront that she needed the €200 immediately. When the other mother thanked her and asked her was she sure, she's very good etc- that was the cue for the op to say- well I can buy them now but I actually need the money back asap. Lots of people would book on a credit card and be ok to wait a week or 2 for €200. I think op should have been upfront at the time.

I agree. Why did you offer if you were so broke? Surely she could have bought her own ticket nowadays with credit cards and Internet.

I guess it kind of fallen between a few different things. At 17 i would expect my daughter to have told the other friend that the tix would need to be paid for asap rather than whenever.
I agree with the text asking were you sure sounded like asking if you were ok to wait for it.
But I think I'd text and say tht you thought the arrangement was for it to be paid straight away and you'd appreciate it soon as can as it's out of your account etc (someone will word that a lot better)
