Glad you went to see your GP, it's very common in pregnancy & help is available.

Be kind to yourself.

Your doctor is a good step to ask for help. The maternity hospital also has help too and you can ask your midwife about the service. Have you done CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) before which helps.
Think positive thoughts.

Thanks.

She put me on a low dose medication and referred me to a psychiatrist in the maternity hospital and said I’m to go back to her in 10 days and if I’m still not feeling better in myself she’s putting me on early maternity leave

Have you spoken your maternity hospital? All of the Dublin hospitals have a perinatal psychiatrist who you should be able to see. I'm sure other maternity units have something similar. There are medications that are safe in pregnancy too if that's the road you need to go down.

You'll get through this. Talking to your doctor is a great first step.

Hopefully by writing it down and also seeing your dr that it will help. I’ve no other words except to say you are worth it please keep saying that to yourself. Xxx

Depression in pregnancy

by Mymentalhealth » Fri Mar 16, 2018 8:56 am

I had very mild post partum depression after my last baby 2 years ago. I’m now 7 months pregnant and the depression and anxiety are killing me. I have an appointment with my doctor today to see what I can do but I just need to write bits down.

I’m constantly worrying something is wrong with this baby. It hasn’t been an easy pregnancy with a miss diagnosis, falls, constant sickness ect...

I have an overwhelming feeling I’m not good enough for my husband and kids and that he will leave me and take them.

I can’t concentrate on anything because I can’t keep the worries and fears out of my head.

It’s a struggle to get out of bed but I do because the kids make me
